Simon Amstell is a comedian who has built a reputation for his open, intelligent and thought-provoking stand-up.

"As close as you can get to a man emotionally and philosophically disembowelling himself on stage." The Sunday Times

Amstell has been performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2005. He appeared in his first West End show at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2007 and completed a UK national tour in 2008. There followed a British Comedy Award nomination for his live work.

"Glimmering intelligence." Independent On Sunday

"Intellectually sophisticated, engagingly honest, genuinely accomplished stand-up." The Scotsman

Amstell has also won acclaim for his television work, winning two British Comedy Awards, an RTS Award, a Broadcast Award, and a BAFTA nomination for hosting the BBC comedy show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He started his TV career at Nickoledeon where he was fired for making pop stars uncomfortable. He then began presenting the Channel 4 show, Popworld - where he gained a huge following for his groundbreaking work in making pop stars uncomfortable.

He will be starring in a new, self penned comedy project for the BBC in 2010.

"A distracted 'mad professor' demeanour masking a dry free-wheeling wit." The Observer

"Amstell offers a probing cerebral show. He speaks for a disconnected, disengaged chunk of Britain, sitting in their own trendily furnished boxes waiting for the world - or some meaningful cause - to come bursting through their door. It doesn't." The Independent
